About Me

My Story..

The Short

My name is Claudia and I’m a professionally qualified make-up artist, massage therapist and beauty specialist. I took the jump into setting up my own business out of a passion to connect with people and use my skills to make them look better and feel better on the inside and out. My goal is to help people take some time out of their day to relax, enjoy and give themselves the gift of self-care, where they can be free from the stressors of the world for a little while.

The Long

Grew up in the lovely countryside of East Clare alongside my wonderful parents and siblings and our many, many pets. From early on I had a great affinity for animals, art and reading, and being a part of a very active family, a love of sport developed from an early age also. My amazingly supportive parents gave my siblings and me every opportunity when we were younger and we were lucky to partake in many sports and hobbies throughout the years. Athletics, camogie, basketball, karate, art, dance and horse-riding to name a few. I enjoyed many years of playing with the local camogie team, competing in national athletics races as well as competing in showjumping competitions.

My love of sport eventually lead to me going on to study Sport and Exercise Science in the University of Limerick. I loved learning about the science behind sports and exercise, the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the practical aspects of human movement and exercise, amongst other things. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in UL and was even able to get the opportunity to live and work in Australia for 8 months as part of work experience for my degree.

Alongside days filled with physiology and biomechanics, I also looked forward to the college nights out, in big part due to being able to sit down to play and experiment with makeup. Having always been so active, sporty and outdoorsy growing up I never had much cause to wear makeup very regularly, if at all. So I relished in the “getting ready” for nights out and would sit for hours playing around with colour and different makeup looks. It was during college that my love for the art of makeup really blossomed.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was 17 but managed it fairly ok and didn’t suffer with it too much for the first few years. However throughout college, due to the stresses of course work, exams and deadlines, I started suffering from flare-ups of my Crohn’s more frequently. On completing my degree and still struggling with the aftermath of a bad flare I had to really evaluate my health and stress management as well as where I wanted to go next. Not sure about if or what route I wanted to follow I decided to look at exploring and focusing on some of my other interests.

This is what brought me to training as a makeup artist, and a beauty esthetician to compliment it. Whilst training in these I also kept my foot in the sports side of things by studying and training in sports and deep tissue massage. Thankfully, whilst training in these courses, I discovered my passion for makeup, beauty and massage as a mode for making people feel better, look better and take some time for themselves. After my training, I worked for a couple of years as a makeup artist, brow stylist and beauty esthetician before deciding to set up on my own as a self-employed makeup, beauty and massage therapist.

Fortunately I’ve been very lucky to start off, on my self-employment journey, in Odd on Thomas St. in Limerick. Odd is an amazing co-creative space full of wonderful and talented people that I now have the pleasure of working alongside, as well as learning from. I’m beyond excited to further pursue my passion, develop and grow my business and meet and connect with new people and clients.
